the Samaritan Center
- Samaritan
Center provided requests to over 20,000 individuals and families
(duplicated number) for a three - five day supply of food,
12,588 individuals and families (duplicated number) for clothing
needs, 190 individuals for prescription assistance and 1,164
individuals for furniture needs.
- Samaritan
Center, formerly known as the Office of Social Ministry has
assisted low-income individuals for more than 20 years.
- Samaritan
Center's base population has increased by 17% since January
2002.
- Samaritan
Center is the only agency in Chemung County that offers free
prescription assistance to low-income families and individuals.
The Center works with physicians, hospitals, and Medicaid/Child
Health Plus and Family Health Plus programs to provide assistance
to those in need. The Center also provides Health and Nutrition
Education through two monthly health fairs.

Center's client choice pantry is one of the largest operating
pantries in Chemung County.
- The Samaritan
Center is operated by on full-time and two part-time staff.
Over 64 Volunteers contribute to the operation of the Center.
