Southern Tier Regional Emergency Medical Services Council
The
Southern Tier Regional EMS Council was established in 1975, under
Article 30 of the New
york State Public Health Law.
The Council is responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring
regional EMS system development in the Southern Tier of New York.
Our mission is to "continually strive to ensure that every person in
the counties of Chemung, Schuyler and Steuben will have access
to the highest quality
out-of-hospital emergency care, specific to that particular emergency
situation, delivered in accordance with the expected level of treatment,
and receive
it in a timely fashion."
The Council seats 30 members: 12 from Chemung, 6 from Schuyler,
and 12 from Steuben, according to the Council's bylaws. These members represent
ambulances, hospitals, fire departments, public health, emergency management.
